What is a Self-Priming Centrifugal Pump?

A Self-Priming Pump is a specially designed centrifugal pump that has the ability to evacuate air from the suction line and lift liquid from below pump level without external priming. It retains a certain amount of liquid in the casing to create a vacuum and initiate pumping during startup.
